Former One Direction singer Louis Tomlinson was arguably the most famous Louis around, but he may have been taken over today as The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge announced they have decided to call their third child Louis Arthur Charles.

After making the British public patiently wait four days, Kensington Palace confirmed the news in a tweet this morning. It read, 'The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their son Louis Arthur Charles. The baby will be known as His Royal Highness Prince Louis of Cambridge'. [sic]

After seeing the news that the new little Prince has the same name as him, 'Just Hold On' singer Louis couldn't help but make a joke about his little namesake.

Posting the funny message to his 33.6 million Twitter followers, Louis, who is a fan of the tracksuit fashion, wrote, ''Young Louis welcome to the world. I’ll take you under my wing lad. The Adidas tracksuit is in the post!' [sic]

Of course, fans of the singer were quick to comment on his welcome message, expressing their humour.

Prince William and Kate welcomed Prince Louis into the world at 11.01am on Monday 23rd April, with The Duchess giving birth at the Lindo Wing in St Mary's Hospital.

The statement read, 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge was safely delivered of a son at 1101hrs. The baby weighs 8lbs 7oz. The Duke of Cambridge was present for the birth. Her Royal Highness and her child are both doing well'. [sic]

They later added, 'The Queen, The Duke of Edinburgh, The Prince of Wales, The Duchess of Cornwall, Prince Harry and members of both families have been informed and are delighted with the news.'

Whilst Prince Louis is now fifth in line to the throne, Louis Tomlinson has his own little Prince to look after in the form of his two-year-old son Freddie Reign.

The 26-year-old welcomed Freddie into the world with his ex-girlfriend Briana Jungwirth on 21st January 2016.
