Jamie and Louise Redknapp confirmed their decision to split back in July 2017 after almost two decades of marriage, leaving many fans deeply upset by the decision as they'd seemed to be a solid, celebrity power couple.
The couple, who share sons Charley, 13, and nine-year-old Beau, got married in June 1998, but filed for a Decree Nisi in December 2017 which officially ended their marriage, and they were divorced in January 2018.
But what caused the split? And what have both Jamie and Louise said about what happened between them?
In September 2017, Louise gave her first interview about the split, breaking her dignified silence on the matter on This Morning. Stressing that her key priority is protecting her children, Louise opened up to Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield about the breakdown of her marriage.
She said: “Of course we all go through hard times and my priority and his priority is our children and protecting them and keeping as much private as possible and loving them and putting them first.
“That’s really what we’re focusing on.”
She then spoke out more on the reasons behind her split a month later to Stella magazine, explaining she wanted to take time to work on her own career.
She said, "I didn’t want to continue running around after everyone else, and occasionally promoting a yogurt or doing a little TV presenting job. I wanted to sing, I wanted to perform. I wanted to go back to work on a stage in front of an audience."
She added that it was her appearance on Strictly Come Dancing and support from her co-star and pal Daisy Lowe that prompted her to take action.
Louise revealed a 'turning point' came when Daisy said she should show off her 'sexy' figure more. Daisy told Louise: "Oh, my God look at your gorgeous body. You have to wear a sexy dress."
“She kept on at me to wear something sexy and by week three, I was in a leotard and tights not feeling self-conscious at all," Louise continued to the magazine.
The former Eternal star went on to explain that week by week her confidence grew and she could feel herself changing. “Sometimes I felt like crying because deep down inside me this voice was screaming ‘This is what I have been missing!’” she continued.

There was a lot of speculation over whether the infamous Strictly Curse had anything to do with the split, and many began scrutinising Louise's friendship with her 2017 partner, Kevin Clifton.
However, despite the rumours, both have always maintained that their relationship is purely platonic, and Kevin recently refuted Louise romance rumours again, "No, never. You’re there to do a job and get on with the dancing. That’s what it’s about."
After the couple were divorced in January 2018, District Judge Ian Paul Mulkis made the court files secret, so that the true nature of their split could never be made public. According to The Sun, such papers would normally be made public. We do know that Louise cited Jamie's "unreasonable behaviour", and that Jamie reportedly did not contest it to avoid further upset for the children.
Thankfully, Louise earned what she'd wanted and won a place in the cast of new musical '9 To 5', based on the life of Dolly Parton and starring Love Island 2017's Amber Davies in the lead role. Unfortunately, she had to pull out due to injury before the show started running, but rejoined the cast in March 2019.
However, in the last year, Jamie and Louise Redknapp have apparently grown close again according to reports by Woman magazine. A source close to former footballer Jamie told the publication that he'd been "bowled over" by Louise's "transformation" and added that they're "spending large amounts of time together".
They added, "There is a spark there now which he hasn't seen since the very early days - way back when she was in Eternal," before saying that Jamie has fallen for Louise all over again and that he "fancies the pants off her again."
Louise also has a new album coming out after signing a deal with Warner Music, entitled 'Heavy Love' which is set to be released 18th October this year.
