Love Island 2018 contestant Laura Crane has spent the past week in hospital following a battle with sepsis.

She was first admitted to hospital last week, where she has since been fighting the deadly infection, which spread rapidly.

Her rep told The Sun: "She’s still in hospital bless her. It’s taken a lot out of her and until they’ve got rid of the infection she won’t be able to go home.

"It will be closing up to a week if she’s still in there tomorrow. It’s a case of testing her every day. She’s been incredibly lucky, it’s very hard for an athlete to be out of training for this amount of time too."

Laura, who rose to fame after pairing up with Jack Fowler on this year's Love Island, posted a series of Instagram stories documenting her ordeal. One of them showed balloons, flowers and chocolate she had received as well wishes:

She also shared a post that read: “Hard times will always reveal true friend” and then added “facts”, hinting that she hadn't heard from some friends during her time in hospital.

Another picture posted yesterday shows Laura in a wheelchair, with the caption "not really the 4 wheels I'm used to #imissmyskateboard":

Fans have been wishing her well on Instagram, with one commenting "Didn’t realise how poorly you have been very scary ! Get well soon x" and another writing "I pray for a quick and speedy recovery laura!"

We hope she feels better soon!
