Love Island hopeful (and by hopefuly we're talking watching-TV-between-our-fingers-mega-desperate) Zara Holland went into the house as Miss Great Britain. But now, after sleeping with house newcomer Alex Bowen, the pageant organisation has issued a statement stripping her of the title she so frequently, erm, brings up.
The Mirror reports that the Miss Great Britain organisation have issued the following statement:
"Following recent actions within ITV2 show Love Island is is with deep regret that we, the Miss Great Britain Organisation, have to announce that Zara Holland has formally been de-crowned as Miss Great Britain.
"As an organisation we have not taken this decision lightly, we are close to all of our winners and wherever possibly stand by them during their rein."
Seems like having sex live on TV is one of the things the pageant can't quite stand by. And poor Zara won't learn about this until she's out of the house, which is pretty harsh.
It continued: "The feedback we have received from pageant insiders and members of the general public is such that we cannot promote Zara as a positive role model moving forward.
"We wholly understand that everyone makes mistakes, but Zara, as an ambassador for Miss Great Britain, simply did not uphold the responsibility expected of the title."
Wow. Especially harsh considering that Zara really regrets her actions already, telling the camera: "You know when you’re in the moment and it just happens. That’s really not like me at all. Why couldn’t we have just gone to sleep?"
Well, you didn't, and now runner-up Deone Robertson will be Miss GB for the rest of the year.
Since going into the house, Zara has been pretty much desperate for male attention. Flitting from boy to boy, and not finding much luck, part of us was relieved when she finally hooked up with Alex after being sent on a date with him - but of course, now her crown has gone, it's going to be pretty cringey hearing her yap on about it all the time.
Also, housemate Olivia, who Alex was flirting with all day, is NOT going to be happy. Let the sparks fly...
