Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ll probably already know that Lucy Watson is one of the biggest celebrity animal rights campaigners around.
And while the former Made In Chelsea star does enjoy watching I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out Of Here! like the rest of us, she’s less than impressed by the show’s use of live animals during its infamous bushtucker trials.
"I hope that at some point they get to the stage where they stop using so many animals," Lucy exclusively tells heatworld.
"It’s becoming frowned upon as people are becoming more aware of the fact these creatures are alive and they want to live, but they’re being used for entertainment."
Monday night’s trial saw Ola Jordan, Sam Quek, Scarlett Moffatt and Jordan Banjo get locked into the Tomb of Torment before 120,000 – an I’m A Celeb record – live creatures were poured on top of them; including rats, mealworms, spiders, crickets and cockroaches.
"It’s tricky," Lucy continues. "I think the rats are probably tame and are quite used to being around people, but with all those bugs – it can’t be a fun situation for them.
"It’s not a show I would probably ever work with on that basis."
And it turns out that – like many other viewers – Lucy really didn’t enjoy when former TOWIE star Ferne McCann was asked to eat a live spider on last year’s show.
"There are some trials that I am more against than others, but eating a live spider? That to me was horrendous.
"I don’t like spiders, but I don’t think I could ever kill one, or eat one.
She added: "Hopefully they’ll adapt and start doing more challenging trials where it’s more about thinking or athleticism, rather than the animals."
Meanwhile, animal lover Lucy has released her own cruelty-free cosmetics range, called Basic Bitch.
But don’t compare her new collection of lipsticks to Kylie Jenner’s popular lip kits.
"People keep saying I’m copying Kylie Jenner, but I’ve been wanting to do this for years," she says.
"For me, it’s not about making money, it’s more of a passion project."
But surely Lucy’s not calling herself basic?
"I would definitely say I’m a basic bitch," she explains matter-of-factly. "I don’t take it negatively, I see it as a compliment.
"I think it’s cool if you’re low maintenance."
