Lynda Bellingham has died after losing her battle with cancer.

The 66-year-old passed away on Sunday in her husband’s arms, her agent has confirmed.

The actress was diagnosed with colon cancer in July last year but the disease spread to her lungs and liver.

The former star of Loose Women took the decision to stop chemotherapy in September so she could live happily with her family before her death.

She was perhaps best known for her role as the mother in the Oxo gravy television advertisements in the '80s and '90s.

More recently, she appeared on ITV panel discussion show Loose Women from 2008 until the time of her diagnosis.

She also took part in Strictly Come Dancing in 2009 and appeared on the show with professional dancer Darren Bennett but was voted off the show during the fourth week.

Lynda was awarded an OBE earlier this year for her charity work and was known for her commitment to Macmillan Cancer Support.

She opened up about her cancer diagnosis and the difficult decision to stop treatment in her recent book Memoir and it has been widely publicised in the media in recent weeks.

She leaves behind husband Michael Pattemore and two children Robbie Peluzo and Michael Peluzo.
