“I’m set free. I begin to spread my wings” – are Leona Lewis’ song lyrics about Simon Cowell?

It certainly sounds like it

Remember X Factor winner Leona Lewis? Of course you do, everyone loves* Bleeding Love*. That's the law. Although we’re not sure we can remember any of her hits after that one, but you know.

Leona has a new album coming out, and The Sun reports that it’s “90 per cent about the breakdown of her relationship with Simon Cowell”.

90 per cent!? Jeez Louise, that’s LOADS. Even WE couldn’t think of that much stuff to write about the Syco boss, and we’re mildly obsessed with him.

The Sun has had a listen to Leona’s new album, and claims that the “anthemic” song Fire is a “take down” of ex-boss Simon.

The track also refers to her time at Syco as “drowning in quicksand”. Well, that’s strong wording if we’ve ever heard it.

"Simon and Syco wanted to have full control of her music, but [new label] Island have let her call the shots,” an insider told the paper.

"She had already written most of the album with her songwriting partner Toby Gad before she signed the deal with Island. She knew Syco would never have let her release these songs.

"But Leona doesn't want to slag anyone off in interviews or on the telly - she wants to let the music do the talking."

The singer quit the label last June, admitting in an open letter that she’d become depressed during her time at the label.

“I was asked to make a record that would not have been true to myself,” she wrote.

She was then signed by rival label, Island Records.

We’re suddenly feeling WAY more excited about Leona’s new album coming out…
