The music world was left in shock on Friday night (7th September) after news broke that US rapper Mac Miller had sadly passed away following an apparent overdose at his home in San Fernando Valley, at the age of just 26.
After tributes poured in from around the world from the likes of Shawn Mendes, J.Cole, Chance The Rapper and his ex-girlfriend Ariana Grande, Mac's 'secret' girlfriend Julia Kelly has now broken her silence.
Julia, who is a 22-year-old Instagram model, shared a heartbreaking post to her Instagram account, accompanied by a photo of Mac's hand resting on her legs.
She wrote, 'My heart is hurting. Shattered. Today I lost one of the most amazing humans that has ever entered my life. Malcolm McCormick, I would give anything to have you back. Our memories will never be erased. I am forever grateful for you. Thank you for your laughter and endless amounts of love. You brought me out of my shell and broke me free from my shyness. The most gentle soul. Your mind was like no other. Waking up next to you was a dream. Thank you for always making me feel at home. I’m going to miss your sweet forehead kisses and affection. I would give anything to talk to you one last time and express my love. I love you forever, Malcolm. [sic]
It's understood that Mac and Julia first started dating in May, following his split from Ariana Grande.
In the touching post, Julia also shared a screenshot of a number of messages from Mac, whose real name is Malcom McCormick, where the 'Self Care' singer admitted he 'really liked' the model. He wrote, 'I really like. Stick around', before telling Julia he's 'Not going anywhere'.
Mac was found dead in his San Fernando Valley home on Friday afternoon. While the cause of death is yet to be confirmed, reports suggest he died of an overdose.
His family released the following statement, 'Malcolm McCormick, known and adored by fans as Mac Miller, has tragically passed away at the age of 26. He was a bright light in this world for his family, friends and fans. Thank you for your prayers. Please respect our privacy. There are no further details as to the cause of his death at this time.'
Following the shock news, Mac's ex-girlfirned Ariana Grande posted a touching tribute on Instagram. The 'No Tears Left To Cry' singer shared a photo of the rapper, which was simply captioned with a love heart.
As well as Ariana, many other tributes from fans and friends of the rapper have flooded social media.
