Jon Hamm has gone to rehab to fight an addiction to alcohol.

TMZ reports that sex symbol Jon, who plays the iconic Donald Draper in Mad Men, completed a 30-day course at a treatment centre shortly before the premiere for the final seven episodes of the show.

Jon’s spokesman told TMZ: "With the support of his long-time partner Jennifer Westfeldt, Jon Hamm recently completed treatment for his struggle with alcohol addiction. They have asked for privacy and sensitivity going forward."

Jon’s character, Don Draper, is famous for his heavy drinking. This is the programme that made us ask our boss if we could have a Smirnoff Ice at 10am a few years ago, after all (to clarify, that was just once the once, OK? And obviously boss said a big fat NO).

In a 2014 interview with People, Jon spoke about how he actively avoids the LA party scene – mostly due to his time as a skint actor.

"There were a couple years I was living on $5,000, [so] that's a pretty effective way to avoid that," he said about barely having enough money to pay rent, let alone indulge in a partying lifestyle.

“I was never into the club scene. I have a couple friends who run clubs and they’ll call and say come out! And I’ll go and say, ‘Oh yeah, I forgot I don’t like this. I feel like everybody’s uncle or grandfather. I’m too old.'”

Well done for seeking help, Jon – we reckon you’ll be just fine.
