Made in Chelsea babe Binky Felstead may be stuck right in the middle of show bezzies Stephanie Pratt and Lucy Watson’s feud at the moment, but behind the scenes she’s had her (probably designer) fashion hat on and created an all-new swimwear collection with In The Style.
Binky is no stranger to the online brand - she’s collaborated and launched several collections with them in the past, consisting of comfy but glam jumpsuits, playsuits and pretty much everything else that mirrors Binky’s laid back style - but it’s safe to say that she is SLAYING with her very first boho-inspired swimwear range.
The reality star, together with In The Style, has created a range of super wearable swimwear – no matter your shape. We caught up with Binky to talk all things fashion, fitness and figure flattering:
How involved were you with designing the pieces in the new collection?
I’ve been there from the beginning, as I have with all of my collections. I choose the colours, patterns and work closely with the design team to get it all right. I think my fans and followers can tell what I would wear – and this collection is more boho-chic, nothing too racy – just chilled!
Everything looks super comfortable and lovely – before you launched this range did you find that you struggled to find swimwear that you liked on the high street?
Yeah I did – I used to go to high end bikini stores and actually think “Why am I spending all of this money on bikinis when I could get a nice one elsewhere?”. I’ve never really found anything that I particularly like, until now. There’s one Bardot style off-the-shoulder bikini top in the collection and it really works well to wear to the beach or to pair with a skirt for a night out. The green khaki swimsuit has a really lovely tie-waist and is super flattering, too.
Do you have a number one favourite piece in the collection?
The green khaki swimsuitand the Bardot style top. They’re so versatile.
Are there any pieces in the range that you would consider as body saviours? What’s the best thing to wear for those with small boobs or big bums?
The bikinis are great for big boobs, small boobs, curvy girls and super slim girls. There’s a leopard print triangle bikini that’s super supportive, and there’s a Bardot style top which is great for smaller boobs – there’s all different styles for different people in the collection and you can mix and match them all as well!
Do you tend to mix and match?
Yeah, I do tend to mix and match. It makes it easier when packing to go away. I’m not the kind of person that gets all glammed up to go to the beach - I just chuck something on and hope it looks good!
You looked incredible while filming in the Maldives – really glam, but not overly so. What your secret to looking so good on the beach?
Comfort, I reckon. I think if you can get a good head scarf, a pair of sunnies and some seriously good beach hair, that’s all you need. I don’t think you need to wear makeup – maybe just some false individual lashes, but it’s really all about the beach hair when it comes to beach beauty!
Your figure is in incredible shape at the moment – what kind of fitness routine do you follow?
I do an hour of cardio most mornings, wherever I can. I start off on the treadmill, doing half an hour high intensity running and then sprinting uphill. Then, I do circuits with my trainer. I always train in the morning which means I have lunch, and then dinner, and try to avoid the snacks.
What pieces from the range could you see the other MIC girls wearing?
I think all of the girls would look good in the entire collection – the range caters to all body shapes, big boobs, small boobs, big hips, small hips – there’s really something in there for everyone. I’ll be kitting out the girls with whatever they like in time for summer!
What are your favourite summer beauty staples?
I LOVE fake tan. Sienna X is my favourite, as well as Body Bling, which is an instant tan that I shine on the back of my legs if I’m going on a night out. I also love St. Ives body scrub which is good to use before you tan – and I’m a massive fan of No. 7 cleanser – an oldie, but definitely a goodie.
What is your ideal holiday destination and who would you take with you?
I would go to Bali with my mum because she loves Bali, and I promised I’d take her one day. We’re a good little team!
The collection is available at In The Style from Thursday 19th May, prices from £12.99 to £35.99.
