Hacking is a serious crime, and one Tel Aviv resident felt the brunt of the law for committing his crime.

The man who hacked Madonna's laptop and leaked her unreleased music has now been sentenced to 14 months in prison.

Adi Lederman, who was arrested earlier this year, confessed to computer trespassing, infringement of privacy and property rights in a court in Tel Aviv.

Lederman was also fined 15,000 shekels (around £2600) and the court said that his sentence should serve as a warning for future hackers.

Investigations were conducted by the FBI after Madonna's Israel representative filed a complaint.

Madge was due to release her single *Living for Love *on February 14 but was forced to make the decision of realsing a Rebel Heart EP before Christmas.

"The ease with which crimes such as this can be committed by those who have skills in the field, such as the accused, require an appropriate punitive response that has a deterrent and uncompromising message," the court said.

BBC News reports that Lederman has also been convicted of hacking other artist's computer - who remain unnamed.

At the time, Madge told fans not to listen to the stolen copies that had surfaced.

She posted on Instagram: “I have been violated as a human and an artist.”

And called the six songs she released in December “early Christmas gift” for fans.

Nice one Madge. Take that hackers.
