Simonette filed the lawsuit on Tuesday and claims that although Mariah paid her between $3000 and $3600 twice a month, she was not given anything for working overtime.

The nanny worked for Mariah (and her now ex-husband, Nick Cannon) between October 2013 and January 2014 and cared for the couple’s three-year-old twins Monroe and Morrocan. She also helped Mariah around the house, packed her suitcases and attended to her “personal needs”.

During this time Simonette alleges she rotated weekly shifts of 84 hours “spread over seven, 12-hour days, or 120 hours via 24-hour shifts over five days”.

She also claims she was not allowed to be “too affectionate” with Mariah’s children as the Without You singer feared they would grow too attached to the hired help.

“She was let go for doing too good of a job,” Simonette’s lawyer told the Post. “She was advised not to be too affectionate with the children because they [Mariah and Nick] felt the children would get too attached to Ms. DaCosta.”

The lawsuit also claims that Simonette was always on call “with no entitlement for breaks, for meals, and even for sleep.”

“Ms. Carey would not tolerate any delay when she called, and plaintiff had to attend to her every demand, spontaneous or otherwise, whether called upon during the day or in the middle of the night. In sum, plaintiff was expected to be…on call every hour of every day.”

Working for Mariah sounds like really good fun…

Mariah’s people refused to comment on the lawsuit – where Simonette seeks “unspecified damages” – which they described as “frivolous”.
