Mariah Carey has taken to Instagram to pay tribute to one of the 22 victims of the suicide bombing after the Ariana Grande concert at the Manchester arena.

Martyn Hett - who was confirmed dead yesterday – was a Mariah Carey super fan, confessing in his Twitter bio: "My life peaked when I met Mariah Carey."

Now the singer has paid her respects to Martyn, sharing his picture on Instagram along with the caption: "Devastated to learn that one of the victims in Manchester was part of the #Lambily. RIP Martyne Hett. We will cherish your memory forever. His family and all the families affected are in my thoughts and prayers. MC."

While many musicians and celebrities have been paying their respects to the victims of the attack, some have come under criticism for responses deemed 'insensitive' and 'inapropriate'.

Madonna took to Instagram to share a photograph of herself posing with Ariana, along with the caption: "Thank Goodness my friend is OK. Lets all pray for the innocent victims who are not ok (sic). For their families and for Manchester."

However, Madonna's choice of photo didn’t sit too well with some of her followers, who criticised her for focussing the tribute on herself.

One wrote: "She should NOT use such a tragedy for self-promotion!!! Another picture and words would fit better!!!!"

Another commented: "Posting a photo posing is insensitive and so typical @madonna."

This comes after Kim Kardashian came under fire for her choice of post.

Alongside of a picture of her, her sister Kendall Jenner, and Ariana Grande in a crowd, she wrote: "Concerts are supposed to be a place where u can let loose & have fun. So scary to not feel safe in this world. @arianagrande I love you."

Many have questioned why she’d choose that particular picture for the tribute. In it, wshe seems to be the centre of attention, as well as literally being central in the frame.
