Mark Ronson furious with Fleur East for performing his song Uptown Funk on X Factor before its release date

She may have been popular by the time she reached the X Factor final but runner-up Fleur East managed to pee off someone along the way – Mark Ronson is annoyed she performed his song Uptown Funk on the show before its release date.

Aspiring pop star Fleur performed the track in the final of the show and once earlier in the series.

After her initial performance, her version of the tune was a hit on iTunes, prompting Mark to release the original song, which features Bruno Mars, early.

And although his song shot to the top of the charts, he’s irritated he was put in that situation.

Mark told NME: “I was in the States and I saw on Twitter that [former Kaiser Chiefs star] Nick Hodgson said, ‘Fleur East killing it with Uptown Funk.’

“I was like, ‘Oh that must be X Factor, that’s cool.’ Then I was like, ‘Wait, don’t the X Factor songs come actually out on iTunes?’ and then slowly this logic in my head unfolded.

“I realised this girl’s cover’s going to come out before our own.

“So yeah, for a minute I was a little bit annoyed and then we kind of rushed ours, which is ‘cause I think, 'Whatever it took to get the song out.'”
