If there’s a father-and-son relationship we love, it’s Mark Wright and his dad Mark Wright Sr, aka ‘Big Mark’. With Mark Jr’s wife Michelle Keegan set to give birth soon, we chat to them about parenthood and more…
Mark, how are you feeling about soon becoming a dad?
Mark: I’m very excited. Nervous and excited.
You’re a hands-on uncle to your three nephews. How has that prepared you?
Mark: I love my nephews more than anything in the world. It was when they came round that I realised how much I want kids. They say that when you have kids, you’ll never feel love like it. Well, I’ve never felt love like I have with my nephews. It’s the best feeling in the world. So, if that’s anything to go by, I’ve got a huge amount of love coming into my life. I love my nephews to absolute pieces – they are the best things on Earth.
Big Mark: I can’t wait. Mark will be an absolutely fantastic dad.

What have you learnt from your dad, Mark?
Mark: Not a lot! It’s what he’s learnt from me…
Big Mark: If it wasn’t for me, he wouldn’t be where he is today.
Mark: Yes, that’s true. He taught me to work hard. He also taught me family values, and to be a gentleman. The man I am today is down to him and his dad, my late granddad.

Do you still have your legendary nights out together?
Big Mark: We do. It was getting hard because of my hearing difficulties, but now I’ve got hearing aids, it’s fantastic – a life-changer.
Mark: We’d noticed his hearing loss slowly creeping up over the last decade. My dad would struggle to listen to me in a pub or loud environment, so I persuaded him to get his hearing tested.
