Much to the woe of ticket holders, news has broken that LA pop band Maroon 5’s upcoming China gigs have been cancelled.
A statement was released by the promoter Live Nation, who informed saddened fans of the cancellation of two gigs that were due to take place in Beijing and Shanghai in September.
And while apologising to those who had already purchased tickets and promising refunds, they didn’t openly address why exactly the gigs were axed.
Yet rumours are beginning to circulate that it might have something to do with exiled Tibetan leader the Dalai Lama, who some of the band have recently met, and Maroon 5’s keyboard player, Jesse Carmichael, wished him a happy birthday on Twitter.
The country has long been strongly opposed to the spiritual leader, and last month warned Glastonbury organisers against booking the Dalai Lama to appear at the festival, which they ignored.
We guess there be no Moves Like Jagger for China this year, but hopefully Maroon 5 Will Be Loved, still, by their hard-core fans.
