Mary Berry and Downton Abbey’s Mrs Patmore compare soggy bottoms!

When the Downton Abbey cast graced the red carpet for a charity screening of the first episode (which was on Sunday if it had slipped your mind) there were hundreds of fans desperate to find out more about the next series.

But, it appears there was one fan more keen than any other…the incredible Mary Berry.

And heat can exclusively reveal that all the Great British Bake Off queen wanted to do was get some time with Mrs Patmore, AKA actress Lesley Nicol.

“I can't wait to meet Mrs Patmore,” Mary said. “We can compare soggy bottoms!”

We would've loved to have been a fly on the wall during that chat.

The preview of the series five opening show was in aid of the The Cinema and Television Benevolent Fund (CTBF), the leading charity for people working behind the scenes in the UK film, cinema and commercial television industries, and alongside Mary stars including Jerry Hall and Jonathan Ross took their seats to get a sneaky peak of the action.

Aside from the soggy bottoms, Laura Carmichael, who plays Lady Edith in the ITV period drama also made some exciting revelations about the upcoming Christmas special starring George Clooney.

We still have to rub our eyes every time we write this.

“There is a very brilliant moment with Maggie and George,” Laura told the Sun. “I don’t know if I want to give away any more than that really - butMaggie does a very comedy fall.

“George plants a kiss and Maggie ends up on the floor, it’s wonderful. He was hilarious!”

We actually cannot wait for Sunday. And Christmas…
