Matt Willis checks into hospital for “cheeky” double hernia operation

We woke up this morning filled with dread – Christmas is over, New Year’s Eve is a distant memory, the last mince pie has been and, err, gone and it’s all a bit sad.

But then we were given a bit of perspective thanks to Matt Willis who checked into hospital at the weekend for a double hernia operation. Ouch.

The McBusted star shared pictures of himself in his not-so-stylish hospital gown and from the bed on his ward as he prepared to go under the knife.

However, the musician seemed in good spirits and pulled some comedy poses for the camera before posting them on Instagram.

He captioned one picture: “Cheeky double hurnia op! Fun.”

Matt was inundated with well wishes from fans and he is likely to receive a visit from his Celebrity Big Brother host wife Emma Willis before he returns home.

She has supported him through a number of health issues over the past few years including when he checked into The Priory in 2005 for alcohol abuse and again in 2006 for an addiction to cannabis.

Opening up about her husband’s issues during an interview with Fearne Cotton last year, Emma said: “I’m not going to leave him because he has a problem. You have to stick together and get through it.”

When asked about the new, sensible Matt, she added: “He’s very boring. I’ll take boring over the alternative.”
