Following the sad news that Love Island 2019’s Maura Higgins and Strictly Come Dancing’s Giovanni Pernice had called time on their relationship after just a few short months together, Maura’s given herself a confidence boost with a brand new ‘do.
In a classic move, Maura headed to the salon post-split for a makeover, stepping out with a boxy fringe in her trademark brunette at the launch of best pal Molly-Mae Hague’s Beauty Works collection.

Could Maura Higgins appear on Strictly amid Giovanni Pernice romance?
Maura and Giovanni first set tongues wagging back in June when they each shared a number of cryptic posts on social media from the same staycation to Cornwall. After weeks of heavy hints, they finally went Instagram official the following month but since their reported split they have each deleted all traces of the other from their social media.
Giovanni, who has worked as professional on Strictly since 2015, is currently partnered with EastEnders actress Rose Ayling Ellis and they have been consistently impressing the judges. But Giovanni previously brushed off rumours of a Strictly Curse, saying, “Maura is absolutely fine in the sense that it’s not a curse. I’m going to dance with my celeb and she will be supporting me all the way.
“Realistically, if you’re happy in your relationship there is no reason for the curse. If you’re happy with your wife or with your husband, you wouldn’t go on Strictly to cheat.”

“Strictly is such hard work and all your time is taken up with the show, so Maura wasn’t given much of his time. Sadly, the writing was written on the wall,” a source told The Sun.
“Giovanni wants to win the show. He’s got such an amazing bond with Rose and Maura couldn’t handle it.”
Of course, the official line couldn’t be further from the allegations, with friends claiming it was their “crazy suitcase lives” that spelled the end for the couple.

Speaking to the same publication, another source claimed, “Maura didn’t see this coming and is finding it very difficult to come to terms with. She genuinely thought Gio was the one.”
They continued, “Gio is working 24/7 on Strictly and Maura is flying here, there and everywhere with modelling.
“Gio is also set to go on tour again next year when Strictly ends so their lifestyles just don’t fit with settling down at the moment.
“That’s why Gio decided to end things. They have crazy suitcase lives which makes it hard to be in a relationship.
“He adores Maura and had hoped they could remain friends - but that doesn’t look likely.”
