The year may have just begun, but 2025 has already been an eventful one for Prince Harry and Meghan Markle. As heat previously reported, the couple were branded ‘disaster tourists’ after volunteering at the LA wildfires, before The Duchess postponed new Netflix show With Love, Meghan amid the tragedy until March. Then, things went from bad to worse when the couple were the subjects of a scathing Vanity Fair exposé.
And as they deal with the stress of the past month, a source reveals that Harry, 40, and Meghan, 43 – who are parents to Archie, five, and Lilibet, three – are now planning a healing holiday to the Bahamas in a bid to get their relationship back on track. The insider says, ‘Meghan and Harry have been under intense pressure both personally and professionally, which has understandably taken its toll on their marriage. With their relationship under constant speculation, the latest damaging reports, their ongoing family drama and their Hollywood careers hanging by a thread, things are incredibly tough right now.’
We’re told that their close friend filmmaker Tyler Perry, 55 – who loaned the couple his $18million Los Angeles home when they first quit royal life in 2020, before settling down in Montecito – has given them a private place to stay, so that they can recuperate. ‘Tyler has offered up his Bahamas home to the couple. He told Meghan to take the time to reconnect and repair – insisting that she and Harry needed time away from everyone, even the kids,’ the source says.
‘Meghan agreed they needed to get away, just the two of them, and they’re due to jet out there next month, with Meghan’s mum and their nannies staying at the house to look after the children. Given the current devastation sweeping California, Harry was initially hesitant about how it may look to jet off to their friend’s private island, but Meghan’s told him they need this break. He also realises how vital it is to prioritise himself and his family’s future.’
Our source says the backlash Harry and Meghan received after they were pictured helping those affected by the fires at an evacuation centre left them devastated, adding, ‘While they weren’t directly affected by the fires, they were close to an evacuation order at one point and have since opened their home to friends who’ve lost their houses, which has also been hard.’ And then came the damning claims in the Vanity Fair article, which included the accusation that the couple were ‘the most entitled, disingenuous people on the planet’. Their relationship also came under scrutiny in the piece, as it addressed rumours Meghan’s team had allegedly had a conversation with a publishing house to ‘gauge interest’ in a post-divorce book. However, the allegation was quickly shut down, saying, ‘No offer was ever made, and no manuscript was produced. After all, there was no divorce.’
Through all their many trials and tribulations, and despite speculation that they’re living separate lives, Harry and Meghan – who tied the knot in 2018 – have stood strong by each other’s side. And while recent dramas have understandably shook their foundations, those close to them are hoping this getaway is exactly what the couple need. Our source says, ‘Many of Meghan’s pals feel this trip will be all about healing and reconnection. They’ll be alone on one of the world’s most beautiful private islands with staff to wait on them hand and foot – giving them plenty of time to really sit and get everything they need to off their chests without any distractions or excuses.
‘Despite their rocky patch, it’s clear there’s still lot of love between them, but they’re going to have to ensure they can navigate through this storm together in order to prove their marriage can go the distance.’
