After months of speculation, Clarence House and Kensignton Palace confirmed news of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s engagement on Twitter this morning.
“The Prince of Wales is delighted to announce the engagement of Prince Harry to Ms. Meghan Markle,” the Palace revealed in a statement published online.
Harry and Meghan are set to speak in an interview broadcast later this afternoon, and are due to appear for a photo call at Kensington Palace.
It’s also been revealed the wedding will take place in Spring 2018, but it looks as though Meghan will have to make some pretty big sacrifices before the big day.
There’s been talk for a while now that Meghan would be giving up her role on Suits – filmed in Toronto – to focus more on charity work and responsibilities as a member of the royal family.
But now that the official statement named Nottigham Cottage at Kensignton Palace as the couple’s marital home, it appears to confirm Meghan will be giving up her full-time acting job.
"Meghan knows she can’t really act at the same time as being a princess and is happy to make this career sacrifice,” a source told Daily Star Sunday.
“She really enjoys her charity work with Unicef and will broaden out her charity commitments when she becomes a full-time royal."
