Mel B has gone to extreme lengths to get rid of a tattoo referencing her ex-husband.

The former Spice Girl filed for divorce from Stephan Belafonte in March of this year after separating in December 2016 amid accusations of his “emotional and physical abuse”.

And it seems television talent show judge Mel is willing to put a lot of effort into removing the last travel of film producer Stephen from her life as her tattoo removal left her needing 13 stitches.

The inking, which was close to her ribs, read: “Stephen, till death do us part you own my heart.”

But rather than covering up the body art or having it removed by laser, Mel had it excised, which is why she needed the stitches, and may go on to have laser treatment to reduce scarring.

She said: “I wanted the tattoo removed to help close the final chapter on a toxic relationship.

“Even though I’ve taken the steps to remove Stephen’s name from my body, the domestic abuse will forever remain with me.”

The couple were married for 10 years before the pop star filed for divorce earlier this year and she has also taken out a restraining order against him after she accused him of physical abuse and of forcing her to have three-way sex on camera.

Mel dropped the abuse charges in October as part of the settlement and the divorce was finalised this month.

The pair will share custody of their six-year-old daughter Madison and they will split the money they make from the sale of their house in the Hollywood Hills.

Melanie must also pay Stephen’s legal fees of £149,000 and £11,200 a month for three years.
