Mel C has made no secret of the fact she doesn’t want to be part of a reunion to celebrate the Spice Girls’ 20th anniversary but it seems she may have had a change of heart.
Her former bandmates Mel B, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton announced earlier this year that they were planning to reform for a special event, with rumours doing the rounds that they’d booked out London’s Hyde Park for a huge gig.
And the artist formerly known as Sporty Spice says she wants to be in the front row at any concert to support them despite reports of a rift.
"I think I’ll find it weird," Mel said when asked what it would be like to hear Spice songs performed again, according to the Daily Mirror.
"People have talked to me about the gigs and they’re like, 'Are you going to go?' I’d find it really weird."
Despite releasing her new solo album Version of Me, Mel admits she may even find it hard to resist the urge to jump up on stage with Mel B, Geri and Emma, even though they may kick her straight back off.
She added: "I want to support the girls, of course! I think I’d probably have to get up with them.
"They’d be like, 'Get off, you said no!'"
However, things may not be as cheerful as they seem as a track on Mel’s new album is allegedly about an apparent feud with Mel B.
Sources claim the lyrics are aimed at Scary Spice but Sporty has refused to confirm this, instead saying the song is about someone that didn’t treat her well.
In the song, she sings: "This is not your playground. I’m not here for you to shoot me down.
"You’re praying on my weakness even when you’re not around. Nothing lasts forever but you’re wrapped around my DNA.
"And I’m hiding in the corner wounded kid I was, like it was yesterday, like nothing’s changed.
"Ever so quietly, comes creeping back up on me, haunting me, goading me. Why can’t you let go of me, I don’t have the patience anymore."
And Mel says she has been "ruthless" with her song choices when it comes to being honest about her past relationships.
She told the Daily Mirror: "I feel courageous and like I’ve got nothing to lose. I’ve been ruthless with song choices.
"With things in life you want people to like it but with this I want to like it.
"With Version of Me, at the time I thought the person didn’t like me but with a bit of age and wisdom, I realised that I wasn’t treated very nicely in that situation.
"But it does affect you for the rest of your life really. You can recover from it and you can use it positively but it is still always there."
