Spice Girl Mel B thanks doctors and nurses after being hospitalised with horrifying injuries

It's been quite the year for the Spice Girls and their fans, with the initial reunion at Geri Horner's house with their former manager, and then the announcement that Melanie Brown, Melanie Chisholm, Geri Horner and Emma Bunton, would be going on tour next year.

However, now, Mel B has taken to Instagram to reveal that she has had an accident, resulting in a number of injuries. The Spice Girl posted a photo of herself, wearing a blue hoodie with the word love with a rainbow above it, showing off a bright purple sling revealing that the she has not one, but TWO broken ribs, and a severed right hand, which needed emergency surgery!

Although Mel gave a long account of her injuries in her Instagram caption, she hasn't revealed how she got the injuries. However, she did apologise to her fans who were hoping to see her at a book signing in New York, which has had to cancel saying, 'I’ve had to unfortunately cancel my book signing today in NY,I appolagise to each and everyone one of you who bought there tickets to meet me today😩I’m absolutely gutted but I can assure you it WILL happen at a later date'. [sic]

Fans have been eager to leave get well messages for the Spice Girl saying, 'Praying for a quick recovery and hope you feel better soon.Ive been in your possession before with 3 snapped ribs and 2 cracked but yip hope you feel better really soon 😘😘😘😘', and 'Omg no no no 😱😱😱 jeeeeeez I hope you are okay 😩 get well soon ❤️🙏🏽💖 sending all my love! Xoxo'. [sic]

Mel B's injury comes just a few days after her band mate Geri Horner posted a stunning throwback photo from the Spice Girls' first photoshoot. Geri took to Instagram to post the photo captioning it, 'Come on girls let’s do a photo shoot’. This was our first ever photo shoot. I dragged the girls to this kookie photographer I knew ☺️'. The black and white photo shows all five of the girls all looking towards something off camera to their right.

In 1997, Spice World the film was released. The girls promoted their film at the annual Cannes film festival held in the South of France.The film starred all five members of the group along with Richard E. Grant, Claire Rushbrook, Naoko Mori, Meat Loaf, Barry Humphries, and Alan Cumming.

In May 1997, Geri left the Spice Girls. In a statement released through her solicitor, she said, "Sadly I would like to confirm that I have left the Spice Girls. This is because of differences between us. I'm sure the group will continue to be successful and I wish them all the best."

In 2016, on the 20th anniversary of 'Wannabe', Emma, Mel B and Geri had a mini-reunion. They posted a video saying they would be back under a different name - GEM (named after their collective initials). Despite this video, nothing was released.

Spice Girls reunite in 2018

Earlier this year (2018), Spice Girls fans all over the world went wild when it was confirmed that all five of the Spice Girls had met up at Geri's house, along with their former manager Simon Fuller.Since the initial meeting back in February there have been continued rumours that we could see a full reunion, new music or even a tour, however nothing has been confirmed.

Geri, Mel B, Emma and Melanie C announced they will be going on tour across the UK, announcing dates in Manchester, Coventry, Sunderland, Edinburgh, Bristol and London. Some dates are already sold out, however you can still buy tickets for other dates from Aloud.com

Because of her business commitments Victoria won’t be joining the girls on tour, but will always be one of the Spice Girls and remains aligned with Emma, Mel B, Melanie C and Geri in preserving their unique legacy.

When the Spice Girls announced their tour they also revealed they would be joined by Jess Glynne, who recently revealed to us why she decided to tour with the popular girl group.

Jess told Sarah-Jane Crawford how she found out the exciting news saying, "I was on a video shoot for 'Thursday', they were like, 'Jess, do you want to do this gig?'"
