TV presenter and 'I'm A Celebrity' star Melanie Sykes estranged husband Jack Cockings has told *The Sun *that the 43 year-old regularly attacked him whil under the influence of alcohol.

While there's been no word from Melanie, as she's in the 'I'm A Celebrity' jungle, the 28 year old claims she attacked him during a trip to Mexico in 2013, then six months before that when they were at her family home in Dorset celebrating Christmas, followed by an incident that he described as the final straw in November 2013: ''I was in the kitchen and she came in and went mental. she told me the whole marriage was a publicity stunt, so I started packing my things into black bin liners, but she was still trying to have a go at me with slaps,' he said. 'I locked myself in the bedroom and rang the police because I wanted to show her that was she was doing was unacceptable. Two police officers took pictures of marks around my neck and face.'

Police did release a statement, and Melanie admitted the offence leading to her spending the night in custody. The statement read: 'Police were called at 9.45pm last night to a residential address in Hampstead following reports of an assault.A 43-year-old woman was arrested on suspicion of common assault and taken to a north London police station. She has since been given a caution for common assault. The victim, a man, did not require hospital treatment.'

Jack has said the abuse started early on in their relationship, forcing their marriage to effectively end only six months in. Melanie Sykes has been unavailable to comment on the allegations so far.
