Melissa Rivers to tribute her mother with ‘The Book of Joan’

Melissa Rivers will write a new book of memoirs on her late mother, Joan.

The booked of memoirs, titled The Book of Joan: Tales of Mirth, Mischief, and Manipulation will be released by Publisher Crown Archetype in May.

The publisher has described Melissa's book as a "funny, poignant and irreverent" look at being raised by the iconic comedian.

Melissa said of The Book of Joan: "In our family we always believed that laughter was the best medicine.

"Not only are there less side effects than Prozac but it's a lot cheaper than therapy.

"I wanted to write a book that would make my mother laugh. I hope it makes you laugh, too."

Mel tweeted her excitement about the release of her book and said:

Joan Rivers died after a lack of oxygen to her brain caused her to suffocate, her autopsy has revealed.

The comedian who passed away on 4 September 2014, aged 81, had been sedated so that changes in her voice and gastroesophageal reflux disease could be investigated.

As tribute, Kelly Osbourne got a bumblebee tattoo in memory of her Fashion Police co-star Joan.

Posting a picture of her new ink to Instagram four months ago, Kelly added this caption: “In honor of you @joanrivers...

"If you looked at aerodynamics, at science, the bumble bee should not be able to fly. Physically, it was just not anatomically equipped to soar. Yet it did, defying gravity, defying logic. The bee was a creature that defied and beat the odds, a miracle.

"Thank you for being my Miracle @joanrivers.”
