Tributes have poured in for Love Island star Mike Thalassitis after news of his shocking death broke yesterday evening (16th March). The reality TV star and former footballer, who was aged just 26, was reportedly found in the woods near his home in Essex, and his death has been confirmed by his manager.
Although no further details have been released by him or the police about the circumstances surrounding Mike's tragic death, many celebrities have paid tribute to the star, and highlighted the importance of seeking help if you are struggling with mental health.
Love Island's host Caroline Flack led the tributes with a fun photo of herself, Mike and Love Island's narrator Iain Stirling with the heartbreaking caption, 'Mike... you were a total gentleman... I won’t forget that ... it’s so so sad ...you will be missed. RIP. ❤️'
Taking to Twitter, Amber Davies wrote, 'I am in utter shock. @MikeThalassitis you were one of the most genuine guy! I just can’t believe this! You’ll be missed so much you have no idea 😢', whilst her ex-boyfriend Kem Cetinay tweeted, 'Such heartbreaking news. My thoughts go out to all of Mikes friends and family 💔.'
Mike's one-time other-half on the show, Olivia Attwood, simply tweeted a broken heart emoji, whilst Gabby Allen wrote, 'Such a kind genuine heart you had. Goodnight lovely @MikeThalassitis 💔.'
Alex Bowen wrote, '😢😢 I cant get my head round this RIP brother ❤️ mike thalassitis', and Marcel Somerville added, 'Absolutely Devasted By This News! 😭Your gonna be missed little bro! Never forgotten!!! 🙏🏿❤️.'
Malin Andersson tweeted, 'Oh my. I have zero words. I’m completely confused. Rest in peace @MikeThalassitis . 😭😭❤️', as Chris Hughes wrote, 'His name wasn’t Muggy Mike. Please stop brandishing that. Mike's former football clubs also paid tribute to the star, with Chelmsford FC writing, 'The Club are saddened to hear the news of the passing of former #Clarets striker Mike Thalassitis. Our thoughts and prayers go to his family and friends at this time. #ClaretTogether.'
Margate FC shared a photo of him in action with the statement, 'Margate FC is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of one of our former players, Mike Thalassitis. We extend our deepest sympathies to his family, friends and loved ones during this very difficult time. Rest in peace, Thala 💙.'
