Miley Cyrus has taken to Twitter to retract an apology she made after a controversial photoshoot she did back in 2008.
Miley, who was 15 years old at the time, caused quite the stir when nearly nude photos of her wrapped in a sheet were published in Vanity Fair.
The pictures were taken by photographer Annie Leibovitz and were criticized for over sexualising Miley, who at the time was best known for her lead role in Disney Channel’s Hannah Montana.
Sharing a picture of a newspaper publishing her apology, Miley wrote: “I’M NOT SORRY”, along with the hashtag #10yearsago.
At the time, Miley released a statement apologising for the shoot and told her fans she was ‘embarrassed’ by the situation.
The statement read: “I took part in a photo shoot that was supposed to be “artistic,” and now, seeing the photographs and reading the story, I feel so embarrassed. I never intended for any of this to happen and I apologize to my fans who I care so deeply about.”
Disney also tried to protect the star’s reputation, claiming “a situation was created to deliberately manipulate a 15-year-old in order to sell magazines.
