Weeks after Love Island’s Molly-Mae Hague revealed that she had undergone surgery to help combat her endometriosis, Molly has bravely opened up about the whole experience with her fans in a Q&A-style YouTube video.

Titled 'My Life With Endometriosis', Molly revealed that she had on several occasions nearly called herself an ambulance due to the excruciating level of pain she was in whilst on her period.

Endometriosis is a condition where tissue similar to the lining of the womb starts to grow in other places, such as the ovaries and fallopian tubes and can cause pain during sex and whilst on your period.

During the video Molly-Mae also spoke about the 'excruciating pain' she still experiences during sex, despite the surgery occurring five months ago saying that it's still "an ongoing issue" and that she's planning to follow up with a gynaecologist in London.

She explained, “My two main symptoms have been the excruciating periods and the excruciating sex.

“I will be honest, I do believe the painful sex symptom is what pushed me into getting my problem fixed, into working out what was wrong with my body because not only was I doing it for me and fixing it for me, which is obviously the main reason, I was also trying to do it for Tommy.

“I feel like the painful periods and the painful sex have been two different journeys.

“I had a blood test and MRI scan because I am going to see a specialist in London in regards to that situation.”

She went on to praise boyfriend Tommy for being “so understanding and so caring”, saying, “I couldn’t ask for a better boyfriend in regards to my endo journey."

This video comes days after Molly-Mae shared her post-surgery pictures with fans and asked them to share their queries about the condition.

Uploaded to her Instagram stories, the black-and-white image showed two incision wounds left on Molly's stomach from the key-hole surgery, while a cannula is seen in the back of her hand.

Molly-Mae made the decision to take the surgery route after struggling with painful periods since the age of 15 and being dismissed by her GP who told her they were ‘sure’ she didn’t have the condition.

The surgery that she had is called a Laparoscopy, a type of surgical procedure that allows a surgeon to access the inside of the abdomen and pelvis without having to make large incisions in the skin.

Molly explained that essentially the surgeon burnt off the endometriosis causing cells which should help to reduce her painful symptoms.

The influencer then explained that despite having seen her GP about her worries, it was the private specialist that finally diagnosed her.

"Straight away they said 'You absolutely do have endometriosis, it's clear as day'. So I guess that's kind of a good thing because at least I know now what it is.

It's not a good thing that I have endometriosis, because obviously it can affect fertility and loads of other things, and you can never really cure it."

Molly also spoke about her nerves about having a blood test before she underwent the keyhole surgery.

"I wanna be that mature girl that can just walk into the doctors and they say 'oh we've gotta take a blood test' and I'm like 'yeah no worries'. I wanna be that mature, cool girl that nothing phases, but I just wasn't born that way. That isn't me, that's not the way I was created, and that's just the way it is."

Molly’s fans quickly reacted to her, with many telling her how ‘brave’ and ‘amazing’ she was to use her platform to raise awareness of the condition.

One wrote, "Raising awareness for endometriosis is so important and I thank you so much for it. It is something doctors constantly overlook and you were right to persist for a diagnosis. It is a debilitating illness that needs to be taken more seriously.”
