Former Glee actress Naya Rivera has been charged with misdemeanour domestic battery after an alleged altercation with her husband Ryan Dorsey.
Police confirmed to People that the star was arrested in Kanawha County, West Virginia while local news station WSAZ, reported she had been released on $1000 (£750) PR bond and that she had been collected by her father-in-law.
News outlets WSAV-TV and WCHS-TV also reported that the police had been called to the couple's home on Saturday night where Dorsey, 34, apparently told officers that his wife had struck him in the head and face while they were taking their son for a walk.
Naya and Ryan had recently reconciled after announcing their plans to divorce in 2016 saying at the time: "After much consideration, we have made the decision to end our marriage. Our priority is and always will be our beautiful son that we share together. We will continue to be great co-parenting partners for him. We ask for respect and privacy for our family during this difficult time.’
Rivera spoke to People about their reconciliation last month. She said: "It is what it is, but I’m glad that my family is together." In October she also posted a sweet picture of herself, Ryan and their son to her Instagram account, adding the caption "#squadgoals❤️"
Since news of Naya's arrest was reported, her ex-boyfriend, rapper Big Sean, has seemingly commented on her alleged actions by posting a meme to Twitter of a child saying "I told y'all. Y’all thought I was playing but I told y’all."
Fans saw this as confirmation of his own experience of being attacked by Naya when they were in a relationship. At the time of their break up TMZ reported it was a result of Naya's "violent fits of anger and jealousy".
