DJ Nick Grimshaw will be off the airwaves and in front of the cameras on Monday when he starts his new job as judge on the X Factor.

Filming of the auditions starts in Manchester and while Grimmers says he can’t wait to get stuck in – he reveals that he actually prefers doing live radio to the telly.

Speaking to us at the launch of his other TV project, Relentless Ultra Presents Soundchain, Grimmy said: “What I love about it [radio] is you turn up and you’re on – there’s no time to be nervous. [If I had to choose between TV and radio] I think I would have to go radio – even though I’m promoting the television. Just because it’s real and what I like about it is it’s truly organic and I think that’s when I’m best, when I’m just put on the spot.”

Well it’s a good job X Factor's Judges’ Houses is going to be a live show this year… coincidence?

And Grimmy’s got an endless list of celeb mates but it’s Jessie Ware who’s bagged first dibs on helping him judge.

He told us she was first to jump at the chance, after hanging out with her at last week’s Glastonbury. “She came up to me and said ‘oh Grimmy I’ve got to be on Judges' Houses where are we going?’ he added.

'She wants the job already but I would love her to do it, she’s super talented, really funny, and won’t stop talking. She’d be ideal, it’s just whether she can fit it in."

If not, maybe his other mate One Direction's Harry Styles can squeeze it in...

The first episode of Relentless Ultra Presents Soundchain with Florence and The Machine airs tonight [Friday 3 July] at 11pm on MTV Music. The remaining episodes then premiere across the MTV network on a biweekly basis.
