Poor old Nicky Byrne has excitedly jetted off to Stockholm to perform in the second semi-final of the Eurovision Song Contest as he attempts to make it to the final so he can compete for Ireland.
The former Westlife star was like a happy little child as he arrived at the airport in Dublin this week but he was left with a rather sour taste in his mouth as he boarded the plane.
His ex bandmates didn’t didn’t bother to give him a call and wish him luck for his big performance.
Nicky spent 14 years in Westlife with Shane Filan, Markus Feehily and Kian Egan but he thinks they don’t even know he’s left the country.
He told the Herald: “They haven’t wished me luck yet, no. I think for them it’s too far out. They probably don’t even know I’m travelling today.” :(((((((((((((((((
However, Nicky is hopeful his pals will soon come round and eventually pass on their best wishes.
"I’m sure they will,” he said. “Yeah, I’m sure the lads will be on to me soon.” Are you really sure, Nicky?
But not hearing from his old bandmates isn’t the only thing that left him feeling sad before heading to Sweden - he didn’t want to leave his wife Georgina and children Rocco, Jay and Gia.
He said: “It was tough leaving Georgina and the kids but they’re following me out next week.
“Gia doesn’t understand yet, but she knows I’m getting on a plane.”
But, nevertheless, Nicky is still able to pick himself up and is looking forward to the competition.
He said: “I’m very excited. I couldn’t really sleep last night. It’s a massive undertaking.
“I didn’t shed a tear, but one of the fans on Twitter sent me a great video of good luck messages from around the world from Westlife fans.
“When I watched that, it kind of had me going. I felt like Rocky.”
