NME award winner Charli XCX: “I’m a terrible singer compared to Adele”

The singer stormed the charts with her Iggy Azalea collaboration – Fancy – and now Charli XCX has scooped an NME Award for best Dancefloor Filler. But she’s not let the award go to her head just yet.

Last year she topped the US singles chart with Fancy – the last British girl to top the American charts was Adele.

When heat asked what she thought of being compared to the likes of Adele, she replied: “I've never heard that ever, EVER. I'm a terrible singer compared to Adele so that's amazing but I've never heard that before but I'll take that for sure.”

Last night’s NME Awards 2015 with Austin, Texas, was held at Brixton Academy, and after the ceremony Charli XCX was heading to Paris and planned to continue the celebrations on her tour bus, with her very own alcoholic spritzer.

She said: “My drink of choice is vodka and champagne, with cranberry, orange and lime.”

And looking towards the Brit Awards next week, says just being nominated is nice, adding: “I don't do what I do for nominations, or chart positions but of course getting nominated is like a cherry on the cake it's like really nice to be considered, it's a nice little topping.”
