Last week, the world got its first look at Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s almost-three-month-old son Saint, with Kim posting this super-cute pic on her app.
But heat has found out that it took four photo shoots, fierce rows between his parents and over 1,000 images to get the final result.
“Kanye considered himself the ‘creative director’ of the shoot, and wanted to get the perfect shot of Saint,” says our Kardashian insider. “He wanted him to wear designer clothes he’d had specially commissioned, but Kim kept saying it was ‘stupid’ and ‘inappropriate’ and that she wanted something uncontroversial and simple, which showed the world that
Saint is a gorgeous little baby.”
We’re told that Kanye called in favours from famous photographer mates – the first being edgy fashion snapper Nick Knight – but “Kim didn’t like the photos”. Then, Nick Saglimbeni – a long-time acquaintance who’s shot the annual Christmas card and has known Kim since 2007 – but Kim and Kanye still weren’t happy.
“In the end it was Kim who took the picture, and she loved it. Over 1,000 photos had been taken by that stage, and she fought Kanye hard to use her one,” says our insider. “But even then, they couldn’t agree on where the image would appear. Kanye wanted it to go in ‘a fashion mag’, but no one seemed to be interested, which infuriated him. Kim wanted to do a celebrity magazine, but Kanye refused,” adds the friend. “In the end, neither could agree, and so they just said, ‘To hell with it,’ and put it on the app.”
