Nathan Massey and Cara de la Hoyde’s is up there with Cheryl and Liam Payne’s and Beyonce and Jay Z’s on our list of unexpected pregnancy announcements of the year, and we are absolutely over the moon for the Love Island pair.
Unfortunately, the announcement came just weeks after they revealed they’d split, and Cara told OK! magazine at the time that it was a ‘sad situation’.
She said: “It’s a shame and a sad situation. I know a lot of people will think, well you’re going to have a baby together so just stay together – but we’re not going to do that just to look like the perfect couple.
"Me and Nathan would always speak about kids, we said maybe when we’re 30, but sometimes life doesn’t go to plan."
Nathan took to Twitter to confirm the news that he was to be a dad, writing: "Yes it's true..I'm going to be a Dad. Its an emotional time for me and I'm overwhelmed by all the support from both my family and friends”.
We caught up with Cara’s Love Island pal Olivia Buckland (Who’s engaged to her Love Island loverrrr Alex Bowen of the enormo peen) to discuss how Cara’s getting on with the pregnancy.
Speaking about the difficult situation of the pregnancy announcement coming so soon after the break-up, Olivia said: “She just has to remember that she’s normal. If she wants to cry, she should cry; if she wants to have a tantrum, she can. It’s a hard thing to go through but she’s doing really well.”
And speaking about Cara’s decision to make her godmother, Olivia said: “She asked me as soon as she found out. She’s my bridesmaid next year, so we’ve got big things to do for each other. And now I could have a little flower girl or page boy too!”
Cuuuute.
