Christmas is all about family for many people, with granddads snoring their face off after lunch, uncles blurting out drunken and highly inappropriate jokes and mums panicking over whether the turkey is cooked just right.

But Olly Murs and his loved ones will be missing one special person again this year – the singer’s twin brother Ben.

Ben fell out with the rest of the Murs clan in 2009 when Olly chose to attend The X Factor semi-finals rehearsals rather than go to his sibling’s wedding.

Even though they haven’t spoken for five years, Olly will still be thinking of Ben over the festive period and hopes they will be able to rebuild their relationship soon.

The star told the Daily Mirror: “We 100% think about him at Christmas. I’m not going to sit here and say we don’t, we do. We honestly do. He’s my brother.

“My mum, dad, nan and granddad are obviously thinking about him – he’s family. And I hope he’s thinking about us. Hopefully in a nice way.

“The door is always open for him to come and see us, and our mum and dad. There’s always been room for a reconciliation.”

The fallout had been simmering for a while and didn’t explode as a result of Olly’s decision.

He said: “It was something that was a spoiling point for a few years before X Factor, and that was the tipping point.

“He’s got a family now, he’s moving on, and I’m sure one day we will reconcile. When that happens, I don’t know. It’s up to him really.”
