He added: “Just found out we didn't beat the Vevo record. But thank you guys for all your effort, the views were amazing! You're legends .x”
Heartbroken Directioners were quick to blame Harry for getting their hopes up, with #DontTrustHarry trending in America, after he told them they’d managed to break the record on Monday, writing on his Twitter page:
“You legends broke the @Vevo record for the most views in 24 hours with the Steal My Girl video. Legends. Thank you.”
That means the prestigious title is still in Nicki Minaj’s possession.
Her video for Anaconda clocked up an incredible 19.6 million views in one day.
