One Direction, everyone's favourite The X Factor runners-up, played their last gig for ages and ages on Saturday night.

The boys bowed out for at least a year in Sheffield, following their 80-date On The Road tour that covered 20 countries.

The grand finale to thier gruelling tour included a front-line conga, led by Liam Payne's dad, plus bro-hugs between the boys galore.

But the band have been keen to reassure fans that it's only good bye for now.

Niall Horan has told his Twitter fans to not believe the "online stuff", saying that he's just going on a long holiday:

But also that he will miss playing live:

Harry Styles, him of the 26 inch waist, thanked fans for their continued support, calling them "everything":

And Louis Tomlinson also posted a heartfelt message to 1D fans:

It's thought that the band may still play at select iHeartRadio Jingle Ball concerts in the 'states this December.

Whatever happens - don't stay away too long boys, please.
