The band asked their fans to get #PreOrder1DFOURDeluxe trending in return for them sharing their latest work.
And, as you can imagine, it happened within a matter of hours.
Four has 12 songs and four bonus tracks – whoopee doo – but it was one particular title which provided the most comical reaction online.
The song Stockholm Syndrome is 11th on the album and has whipped up some directioners into a frenzy, especially those who haven’t quite grasped exactly what it means.
“STOCKHOLM SYNDROME?! so jealous of ppl from sweden now,” one excited fan wrote, while another added: “STOCKHOLM SYNDROME TF TF TF THEY LOVE SWEDEN.”
Luckily, some fans managed to clarify the song title and now rather than crying tears of joy, they are crying tears of shame.
Anywho, Harry Styles, Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne and Louis Tomlinson have billed this album as the most emotional they've recorded, with a friend of the band saying: “It’s going to be their most personal record yet.”
“They’ve been writing individually and together in different pairs.”
The album is set to be released on 17 November and is billed as being a front runner for the number one album spot this Christmas.
