On the weekend that One Direction did their final gig, Liam Payne has revealed he is “absolutely devastated” over his recent break up with ex-girlfriend Sophia Smith.
Speaking to The Sun on Sunday Liam said of the split, “Being on the tour all this year and being away from her was so hard. We spent so much time apart. But in order to do right by somebody sometimes it's better not to do what your heart wants, but to do what's better for them.”
He revealed his plans for the future, saying he wants to spend time on himself.
“Right now I’m looking forward to some alone time to figure out who I am and what I want to be.”
Liam also talked about his career, saying he’d like to continue working in the music industry in more of a behind-the-scenes role. He’d also like to write songs for other pop stars and work with band mate Louis Tomlinson who wants to work on the label side of the business.
Liam met Sophia at secondary school but they pair didn’t start dating until 2013 when Liam flew Sophia out to join him in LA.
The star is now on his yearlong hiatus from the band.
