This has to be one of the best public quarrels between mother and daughter that we’ve seen in a long while.

Dakota Johnson, who plays Anastasia Steele in 50 Shades of Grey, snapped at her mum live during a red carpet interview when she said she didn’t want to watch her in the film.

Let's start off by saying how the ABC reported taking the interview keeps calling Dakota a 'little girl' - as in Melanie's little girl - cringe...have you seen the film?

Ooh, look! Super-snazzy Oscars news:

When asked by the same reporter if she’d seen the film, the 57-year-old told ABC: “She’s a really good actress. “I don’t need to see 50 Shades to know how good she is.”

The 25-year-old quipped: “Alright! You don’t have to see it. Jesus Christ. “I’m like, ‘you can see it’ and you’re like, ‘nah.’”

Melanie revealed: “I don’t really want to. It would really be strange,” and Dakota came to the decision: “I don’t think so, I think you could maybe one day.”

When the reporter, Lara Spencer, tried to explain that her mum might be uncomfortable, Dakota responded: “Yeah, but I think it’s OK, it’s a movie. She knows that.”

Melanie’s got decisions to make – either watch the film where your daughter gets naked and has lots of pretend sex, or risk another awkward red carpet run-in…
