But we think someone should still remind him. You know, he’s a busy guy – and he’s probably still got wedding on the brain after his nuptials last week – and he does seem to be a tad forgetful sometimes.
When heat radio’s Ryan Seacrest last caught up with the Sherlock star, he admitted he’d completely forgotten about the nominations announcements. It was only when a friend rang him up to speak to him about it that he remembered.

“I rang a friend of mine who said, ‘I can’t believe you’re doing this – it’s three minutes until the announcement’ and I said, what announcement?” Benny told Ryan.
“They said ‘the nominations, for the academy awards’ and I went, oh my god. So I sat on the phone with him on the way to work listening to all our nominations coming through – it was an amazing feeling.”
Oh, Benedict. We love you.
The 38-year-old has been nominated for the Best Actor gong for his role in The Imitation Game and is up against Steve Carrell (for Foxcatcher), Bradley Cooper (American Sniper), Micheal Keaton (Birdman) and Eddie Redmayne (The Theory Of Everything).
We still think he’s got a fighting chance. Now let’s hope his new wife, Sophie, doesn’t let him forget.
