Our hearts did a little leap when we heard the news that Paddy McGuinness is going on Coronation Street. Seriously, how great is that news?

He’s going to be in six episodes of the show and starts filming in June, so we don’t have a sneak peek just yet – but we’ll let you know when we do.

Paddy’s special guest episodes will go out in August.

Sadly, the Corrie ladies aren’t going on a Weatherfield version of Take Me Out (but can you imagine the make-up and dresses?).

He’s going to play a “wilderness survival enthusiast” called Dougie Ryan, who will put the Tinker and Dobbs families through their paces when they go on a camping holiday.

Paddy said: “Being asked to appear in* Coronation Street* was a very special moment for me. I remember Peter [Kaye] telling me how much he enjoyed his guest spot on the show and I can't wait to get started.

“[Corrie is] an iconic and much loved show not just in the UK but around the world. The character I'll be playing is very funny and I'm sure the Corrie fans will love him.”

We bet, Paddy. We can’t wait.
