If you saw Pam St Clements in the street then you’d immediately think “PAT BUTCHER! Pat Butcher is in front of me, but do I say anything?”
Better not, buster, because Pat Butcher actually isn’t real, and Pam might have you for it if you suggest so.
A train station worker told The Mirror that Pam went “ballistic” at him after he joked, “Pat Butcher? I thought you were dead.”
Well, theoretically yes she is, she died on EastEnders in 2012, but don’t mention that to Pam.
Commuters were reportedly left “gobsmacked” after Pam (not Pat, do keep up) went into a tirade that even included the words “f**k off”.
Maybe Pam was doing some method acting just in case Pat is ever resurrected (anything can happen in soap. Look at Dirty Den).
An bystander said: "He obviously meant absolutely nothing by it. I'd have thought that she got called Pat all the time to be honest, she was on the telly for years.
"She needs to calm down a bit, maybe she'd had a long day – but the poor guy who asked her looked pretty upset, I thought he might cry."
Chad Collins from Chiltern Railways said:
"We are aware of this event and have spoken to the member of staff, who is well known for his positive interaction with our regular commuters.
"Clearly, on this occasion, his comment was misjudged and we apologise for the offence caused."
Dear, dear. We’ll stay out of Pam’s way if we ever bump into her…
