Poor Geri Halliwell – it turns out that even after that showy wedding announcement in The Times, her fiancée’s parents aren't keen on coming to the wedding.

F1 boss Christian Horner’s parents are said to have disapproved of the engagement ever since it was revealed in November.

"You can say that his parents are absolutely devastated. We won’t be going to the wedding,” a family friend told the Sunday Mirror.

Chris’s parents are rumoured to be angry with their son’s choice in fiancée after he left his former partner of 14 years, Beverley Allan, months after the birth of their first child.

"They’re very upset by everything that has gone on and feel as though their loyalties are very divided,” the friend continued.

Christian, 40, has a one-year-old daughter with Beverley, and is also step father to a former partner’s children. Geri, 42, has an eight-year-old daughter, Bluebell, from her previous relationship with American screenwriter Sascha Gervasi.

Still, the couple haven’t yet put a date on the big day, so let's hope Chris’s parents will come around if they leave it long enough. After all, who wouldn’t want Geri Halliwell as a daughter-in-law, eh?
