Paul Hollywood's brother-in-law has reportedly passed away in a plane crash in Spain. Simon Moores, who is the brother of Paul's estranged wife Alex Hollywood, was flying a Piper Arrow III light aircraft that apparently encountered some thick fog near the Basque country town of Errezil, and tragically went down.

The 62-year-old was accompanied by 67-year-old David John Hockings, and has also sadly passed away in the plane crash on Mount Hernio.

According to Metro.co.uk, the aircraft lost contact at around 1pm on Wednesday (9th Jan), and after a local heard an explosion, the alarm was raised.

Emergency services were able to recover one of the bodies on Wednesday, and the other was recovered yesterday morning (10th Jan). The two of them had departed from Tires Airport in Portugal at around 9am on Wednesday, and were travelling to Hondarribia, which is a coastal town in Northern Spain not far from San Sebastián.

They were thought to be originally heading for Biarritz in France, but had stopped at San Sebastián to refuel the plane, the publication reports.

Simon, who was a father-of-two from Kent, reportedly posted photos online on the day of his death from the cockpit of the plane, apparently writing, 'Dawn’s early light – apparently Biarritz make it very difficult to refuel so go to San Sebastian instead.'

A spokesperson for Alex has said, "The Moores family respectfully ask for privacy at this difficult time."

An investigation into the crash and what happened is already underway.

Our thoughts are with the family at this difficult time.
