Nicholas plays Captain Charles McVay who - while on a mission - has his ship torpedoed. And due to some sort of secrecy, the incident wasn't reported until days later.
The 27-year-old, whose previously profession was a paramedic, is set to play one of the crewman on the ship.
After Paul's sudden death, Cody and his brother Caleb filmed scenes of Furious 7 with the aid of digital trickery, which was rumoured to cost $50 million (around £32 million) to complete.
There are also rumours flying about that Cody will star in Fast & Furious 8, playing a relative of Paul's character Brian O'Connor.
It is set to start filming in a few months.
