Almost exactly two years after the untimely passing of actor Paul Walker, his father Paul Walker III has taken up a lawsuit against Porsche. Paul senior filed a negligence and wrongful death lawsuit against them at a Los Angeles court, and is at present waiting for the prestigious car company to respond.
Paul Walker junior, who starred in films such as Fast And Furious, sadly died on November 30th in 2013 at the age of 40, when the Porshe he was in spun out of control. The driver and his friend Roger Rodas, 38, also tragically died in the incident.
According to E! News, the lawsuit filed by his father stated that the car “lacked safety features that are found on well-designed racing cars or even Porsche's least-expensive road cars—features that could have prevented the accident, or, at a minimum, allowed Paul Walker to survive the crash."
Meadow Walker, the late Paul’s 16 year old daughter, has also previously launched a similar suit against them. She claimed that the car lacked the correct safety features that could have prevented his death.
Paul's daughter and her legal team think that the seat belt in the car was defective, so that it "snapped Walker's torso back with thousands of pounds of force, thereby breaking his ribs and pelvis", she also thinks the actor was alive when the car caught fire, and the seatbelt prevented him from escaping.
Although, according to TMZ, Porsche then placed the blame for the crash on Paul Walker, who they describe as a "knowledgeable and sophisticated user of the 2005 Carrera GT".
A representative for Meadow responded by saying:
"It is beyond regrettable that Porsche is trying to deflect its own responsibility by blaming the victim - Paul Walker - for his own death by getting into the passenger seat of its Carrera GT. Contrary to Porsche's assertions, the facts are clear: Paul was the passenger in a car that was not designed to protect its occupants, in a crash on a dry, empty straightaway in broad daylight and at speeds well below the vehicle's advertised capabilities."
"If Porsche had designed the car to include proper safety features, Paul would have survived, he would be filming Fast and Furious8 and Meadow Walker would have the father she adored."
In Paul Walker III's lawsuit, he is seeking a jury trial, claiming the car was "defective" due to the faulty seat belt and rubber fuel lines designs.
