The sad and sudden death of Peaches Geldof has still not been officially explained, yet some outlets are reporting the socialite was "obsessed" with an American singer who is thought to have committed suicide 11 years ago.

The 25-year-old mother of two was said to have been fixated on Elliott Smith, a Nebraskan singer-songwriter who struggled with drugs and alcohol addiction before his strange death from stabbing – possible self-inflicted – in 2003.

According to the Sunday Mirror, Peaches and her husband Thomas Cohen were even overheard publicly discussing her interest in the singer four days before she was found dead in her home on April 7th.

Passengers on a train heading into central London in the week before she died reported hearing the couple argue about how many Elliott Smith songs she had on her phone.

"Look, I can't believe all my songs on here are Elliott's," she is reported as saying to Thomas.

"For f**k's sake, what is your obsession with that man!" he is said to have replied.

Peaches then apparently said: "Look, I'm married to you. Stop getting so jealous. We've got two kids together for f**k's sake. What more of a commitment do you think there can be? Don't be so jealous."

The pair were then said to sit in silence before Thomas got off at London Bridge, leaving Peaches to continue to Charing Cross station on her own.

While it sounds bad written down, a passenger who overheard their conversation told the newspaper: "It looked like the sort of row any married couple would have, neither acted that badly."

The inquest into her death has been adjourned until July 23rd to give Thomas and Peaches' dad Bob Geldof a chance to attend. Preliminary enquiries suggest Peaches' death was caused in part by heroin use, although the coroner has not yet confirmed whether it was an accidental overdose or a deliberate one.
