Penelope Cruz joins Instagram to help leukaemia charity

Meet eight-year-old Lucas who has beaten the disease

Up until now Penelope Cruz has stayed away from social media.

But now the 41 year old actress has joined Instagram to talk about an eight-year-old boy who’s battled leukaemia.

In her first Insta-post Penelope shared a video with Lucas and then followed the clip with a snap of the pair posing together.

"My beautiful new friend Lucas. An 8 year old full of wisdom. @unoentrecienmil Charity bracelet @viceroyoficial," Penelope told her followers.

In the Insta-video with Lucas, Penelope added: "Lucas is without a doubt @unoentrecienmil Not only for beating leuchemia after fighting it for several years but also for how priviledge he makes you feel while listening to wise words and his amazing story.

"Lots of love and hope in the beginning of my new adventure as director of the documentary #unoentrecienmil A documentary about children's leuchemia. Charity bracelet @viceroy ."

The Oscar winner is helping promote non-profit charity Uno Entre Cien Mil, which she is in an ambassador for.

The charity works to help sick children and their families as well as raise awareness and raise funds for research.

Penelope also revealed she’s going to be apart of a documentary about the disease and the work of the charity.
